Naples FL Window Care
Can You Wash Windows with a Pressure Washer?
Technically yes — but it’s almost never a good idea. Here’s what actually happens to your glass, seals, and frames.
It’s a logical question. You already have a pressure washer for the driveway and pool deck — why not run it across the windows too? The problem is that windows are one of the few surfaces where high-pressure water causes more damage than it prevents.
What High Pressure Does to Windows
Seal failure on double-pane glass. High pressure forces water into the perimeter seal of insulated glass units causing permanent fogging between the panes.
Water intrusion into the wall. Pressure at frame edges forces water behind the frame into the wall cavity — leading to mold in Naples’ humidity.
Scratching from debris. Pressure drives dirt particles across glass at high speed creating micro-scratches that accumulate into permanent haze.
Mineral spotting. Naples water is high in calcium and magnesium. When it dries on glass under pressure it leaves deposits harder to remove than the original dirt.
If You Must Use One
- Keep pressure below 1,200 PSI
- Use a 40-degree wide-angle tip only
- Maintain at least 3–4 feet distance from the glass
- Never aim directly at frame joints, seals, or sill edges
- Rinse only — no detergent through a pressure washer on glass
What Professionals Use Instead
Professional window cleaning uses low-pressure methods with purified deionized water. Glass is cleaned chemically, not physically — no abrasion, no seal stress, no mineral residue. For Naples homes where salt and mineral deposits are the primary contaminant, this produces results a pressure washer cannot match.
